Kumarakom

Kumarakom is perfect splash of blue and green that will satiate the wanderlust of your soul.

This is a story about a couple of kings who fortified this little village on the banks of the magnificent lake; they didn't really know what would come of this place in the future but now, this little place doesn't give you reasons to stay in your bed, it gives you reasons to go to the snake boat race, to extend your trip to Onam, to stay in your room. With a culture so rich, it will make you never want to leave. The locals will accept you with open arms and their joy will make you feel like you are the most special person in the world.

Must Visit

Visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, trek up the Jayatu Rock, and witness the snake boat race, to see the roars crash against the water. Eat Karimeen Pollichathua, a local dish that is a beautifully cooked fish full of different spices and wrapped in a banana leaf. Buy your Traditional Silk Saree to take home its riches.

Best time to visit

Going to Kumarakom in every season has some perks with it. In summer, the clear waters allow you to see the fish flow and in monsoon, the rain brings relief from the wretched heat during summer. Winter, is a favourite with the cool breeze that allows you to go trekking sweat-free. The snake boat races and the festival of Onam will give you more reasons to visit and return again than to leave.
