Monsoons in Matheran are magical as the entire town is snuggly wrapped in a blanket of mist and the abundant waterfalls bordering the road to Dasturi from Neral add to that image. Prabalgad Fort

The closest railway station is that of Neral and cars are only allowed to a certain point beyond which walking is the most pliable option. Being an automobile free town, the major mode of transportation in and around Matheran is that of walking. Horse carriages and pony rides are also available.

Roadway State Owned Bus

Matheran is an automobile-free town which means that no cars or buses are allowed to ply within town limits. While State transport buses are available, they are only allowed till Neral from where cars are allowed as close as Dasturi Naka from where visitors either choose to walk till Matheran or ride a pony.
